Operation Sindoor Live Updates: Real-Time Reactions and Developments

Operation Sindoor Live Update: Introduction

Operation Sindoor marked a significant moment in the ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan. Launched in retaliation for the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22, 2025, India’s military action has captured the world’s attention. In this post, we present Operation Sindoor Live Updates, including minute-by-minute developments, key reactions from both governments, and a breakdown of the military operation’s strategic implications.

As tensions between India and Pakistan escalated, the operation targeted terrorist strongholds in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, using advanced military technology and precision strikes. We will explore the timeline of events, the aftermath of the operation, and how the global community has responded to these high-stakes developments.

The Prelude: The Pahalgam Terror Attack

On April 22, 2025, a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, left 28 civilians dead, many of them Hindu pilgrims. This attack, attributed to Pakistan-based terrorist groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), was a turning point in India-Pakistan relations. The brutality of the attack, which targeted innocent civilians, sparked widespread outrage across India and called for a strong military response.

In the wake of this devastating attack, India vowed swift retaliation. The government declared that the operation would be aimed at dismantling the terrorist infrastructure that has long been a source of cross-border terrorism.

Operation Sindoor: The Launch

At 1:44 AM IST on May 7, 2025, India launched Operation Sindoor. This military operation was a swift, targeted response to the terrorist activities emanating from Pakistan. The objectives were clear: eliminate key terrorist leaders and dismantle their training camps, while minimizing civilian casualties.

India’s Air Force deployed advanced fighter jets like the Rafale with SCALP cruise missiles and HAMMER bombs, ensuring maximum precision in their strikes. In addition, kamikaze drones and loitering munitions played a significant role in the operation.

A total of nine strategic locations across Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir were targeted. These sites included Bahawalpur, Muridke, Bagh, and Sialkot, which were identified as major hubs for terror groups such as JeM and LeT.

Key Reactions: Domestic and International

The response to Operation Sindoor has been varied, both within India and on the global stage.

India’s Perspective

Indian officials hailed the operation as a necessary step in the fight against terrorism. The government emphasized that this action was taken in self-defense and to ensure the safety of its citizens. The public response was a mix of relief and pride, as many saw the strikes as a long-overdue action to curb terrorism from across the border.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed gratitude for the precision of the operation, stating that it sent a clear message to those who harbor terrorists.

Pakistan’s Response

Pakistan swiftly condemned the strikes, calling them a violation of international law and an act of aggression. Pakistani officials, including their Prime Minister, demanded that India be held accountable for the attack on its sovereign territory.

In response to the military strikes, Pakistan launched Operation Bunyan al-Marsus, targeting 25 locations in India, including military sites in Jammu, Punjab, and New Delhi. This escalation led to a significant aerial engagement between Indian and Pakistani fighter jets.

Global Reactions

International actors, including the United States and the United Kingdom, urged both nations to de-escalate and avoid further conflict. However, many countries acknowledged India’s right to defend itself against terrorism.

The United Nations (UN) called for restraint, and the European Union voiced concern over the potential for a wider regional conflict, urging both sides to engage in diplomatic dialogue.

The Aftermath: Escalation and Ceasefire

After the airstrikes, both nations saw heavy military activity along the Line of Control (LoC). Pakistan and India engaged in intense aerial combat, marking one of the largest air battles since World War II. Pakistan reported shooting down five Indian aircraft, while India claimed to have shot down multiple drones from Pakistan.
On May 10, after two days of escalating hostilities, both nations reached a truce. The ceasefire came after talks between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan, with both sides agreeing to a halt in hostilities. This moment of de-escalation, while temporary, marked a significant moment in the ongoing conflict.

Operation Sindoor Timeline: Key Events

For an in-depth look at the real-time updates and developments of Operation Sindoor, we’ve compiled a detailed timeline of events. Below, you can find the minute-by-minute breakdown of the operation’s key moments.

India Withholds Support in IMF Vote Approving $2.4 Billion for Pakistan

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) on May 8, 2025, approved a $2.4 billion financial package for Pakistan under two separate support programs. India purposefully abstained from voting even though the resolution passed, expressing grave worries about Pakistan’s legitimacy and possible financial abuse.

According to Indian officials, the decision to abstain was driven by Pakistan’s ongoing involvement in state-linked militancy, as well as its poor compliance history with international financial obligations. India fears that the fresh IMF disbursement could indirectly bolster activities that threaten regional stability.

Importantly, IMF voting procedures do not allow a direct ‘no’ vote. The only formal way to express opposition is by abstaining, which India used to communicate its disapproval within the limits of the Fund’s governance system.

The abstention underscores New Delhi’s diplomatic resistance to unconditional financial support for Islamabad, especially amid growing regional tensions.
